Who we are
Pampas was founded by Mercedes Hueyo, an Argentine native with an Argentine father and an American mother, whose lifelong passion for cooking has always been rooted in tradition, family, and flavor.
In Argentina, empanadas are more than food—they are a culinary ritual, made by hand and shared at the table. For years, Mercedes crafted her empanadas at home, perfecting recipes passed down through generations and delighting family and friends who encouraged her to share them beyond her kitchen.
In 1995, Mercedes moved from Argentina to Bluffton, South Carolina, where she raised her two sons and built a life grounded in community—bringing with her the flavors, techniques, and traditions of Argentine cuisine.
Today, Pampas Empanadas is her way of introducing the U.S. to authentic Argentine comfort food: oven-baked, handcrafted empanadas made with quality ingredients, time-honored methods, and genuine care. Each empanada reflects a balance of heritage and hospitality—meant to be enjoyed, shared, and remembered.
